Save your own chords onto any Chord or Extension button, split the keys into up to three zones for alternate positions, and run the arpeggiator — 4 modes, 6 rates, 3 octaves — locked to the hardware clock.

Performance Effects
See the whole bank at once.
Every pad in the group, waveform and name, laid out the way the hardware is. Move through A, B, C, and D without losing your place then drag and drop to reassign samples.
And apply momentary performance effects like individual pad mutes, pitch changes, or reverse playback.
Edit
A real editor, before it hits a pad.
Reduce the file size with crop, repitch, stereo to mono flattening, and changing the sample rate. While you're there, normalize to get more volume out of the sample, and let Best Friend detect and set its key for you.
Then stack studio-grade effects on top: three-band EQ, 1176-style compression, distortion and saturation, Octaver, Small Stone phaser, Juno chorus, tremolo, delay, and reverb.
On the EP-40 and EP-1320, layer several samples into one multi-sample — crop and loop each layer, preview it, then save the lot as a single waveform.
Stem-splitting
Pull a sample apart.
Split any sample you bring in into isolated drums, bass, vocals, guitar, and instruments. Remix the levels or mute a track entirely, then send it to a pad.

Finally!
Finally someone has built an App to address the shortcomings of ep-133, ep-1320 and ep-40. These machines are beautiful and highly capable but confusing. This App brings a ton of quality of life features that make the ep series more fun.

Keep up the awesome work on this! Loving the app so far. Would be really cool if there’s a way to get the keyboard to be multi touch so can play chords, but I know you can still play them with the chord buttons.. so much fun to be had!

Exactly What We Needed

Does Best Friend work on Android?

Yes. Best Friend makes Project and System backups, and can take Bank Snapshots of a single bank. All of them are named and dated, and any of them is one tap from being loaded back. Best Friend also supports importing Project and System from the official EP Sample Tool so you can keep your backups in one place.
Can I export individual stems from my EP?
Yes. Best Friend bounces multi-track audio stems of a Scene or an entire Song directly off the hardware. Every one of the 48 pads comes out as its own isolated track, with fader automation included. You can also export group mixdowns, a stereo mixdown, and the MIDI data from a Scene or Song, then bring everything into your DAW.
Does Best Friend use AI to separate stems?
Not for bouncing. When you export stems from a Scene or Song, Best Friend reads the real samples and pad data off your EP, so every pad is genuinely isolated rather than guessed at by a separation model. Stem splitting is a separate feature: that one does use source separation, but only to pull drums, bass, vocals, guitar, and instruments out of a single sample you bring in.
Can I see my Scenes and Songs in Best Friend?
Yes. Best Friend shows every sequenced note across every bank in a Scene or Song on one timeline, along with the fader automation lanes for each bank. The playhead follows automatically as it plays.
